  9. Istar is a knowledge based system builder that allows you to construct
  10. inference nets, bayesian nets and semantic nets.  It has a particularly
  11. nice user interface, with a smoothness that only Amiga hardware can give.
  12. So it is useful for decision support, to help you clarify complex ideas.
  13.  
  14. You build your knowledge base by drawing boxes and arrows, and then
  15. can run the KB direct.  See Docs/Intro to get going.

  27. As bugs are discovered, as tips are suggested, and as better 
  28. documentation is written, etc., - things that do not involve 
  29. a new version of Istar - they will be put on Aminet as they arrive,
  30. under the name Istarnews.  So Istarnews should appear in the RECENT
  31. list more frequently than versions of Istar.

  43. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  44.  
  45. Known to work on Amiga 1200.  Also on 4000 but see 'Limitations and
  46. Bugs' file.  Probably will work on AmigaDos 2.0 upwards, but needs
  47. 2 Mb of memory to run.  Will run on basic 1200 as long as your Workbench
  48. screen is no bigger than 640x256 4 colours.

  54.     iff.library (but can work without it)

  56. It works best if you assign KBTools: to the directory where you keep
  57. you knowledge bases.  Otherwise just starts as Sys: root.

  64. other files.

  68. Istar is still under development.  Some of its buttons do not work
  69. because they are not attached to anything yet.  Some of its more
  70. exotic data transofrmations do not yet work.
